1. What do YOU Have in Common With a Newborn?

This past month I met two individuals who, without a doubt,
have incredible magnificent potential - two newborn babies.

It is easy to see the potential in a newborn. Can you see the
potential in YOU?

Very few of us grow up in a truly supportive and nurturing
environment where we flourish and grow into the incredible
magnificent potential of which we are capable. The good news
is that you maintain the capacity for growth and new learning
throughout your life! It is never too late to discover and
then take action to realize your potential, your passions,
your dreams.

Imp journaling is all about the process of personal
empowerment, of taking responsibility for your own life.
Dare to say, "I deserve to live a life where I flourish in
an environment that is right for me." It is too easy to think
there is something wrong with yourself instead of something
being 'wrong' with the environment in which you find yourself.

To start IMProving your environment, consider the saying,
"Friends are like elevator buttons. Some take you up; some
take you down." You can make a choice right now to seek out
and spend more time with those that bring you up. Find ways
to avoid those who bring you down.

We are used to 'fitting into' a pre-existing environment
(of people and places, of circumstances and conditions).
I invite you this month to use your imagination and write out
a description of the perfect environment for you. For you as
you really are - don't change yourself to 'fit'. Include how
other people act and how they treat you as well as the ideal
physical surroundings.

A wonderful example is that of my daughter who chose to leave
the cool, cloudy climate of coastal British Columbia and now
thrives living in the sunshine of the Caribbean.

You are invited to share with us what you have written, the
experience of doing it and any resulting insights and actions.
With your permission (and anonymously if you wish) we will
include your comments in next month's newsletter.

2. Q&A: "I'm grappling with letting go of fear, guilt and my
perceptions of my past so that I can now live in love, light
and peace. I am really struggling. It's a day by day, minute
by minute, moment by moment struggle. It's as if I am addicted
to living in the past. Maybe that's the way to think of it
(I'm thinking out loud here). And I wonder... can I ever
achieve a life of peace and Love, based on giving rather than
receiving?" Stephen L.

Yes, Stephen, a life of peace and love is achievable for
everyone. It is not, however, attained by being blocked to
receiving. I urge you to stay open to receiving - you can't
give while running on 'empty'.

In a moment I will share information on three huge steps. But,
baby steps are called for. And every step of the way I urge
you to have support. This is not a go-it-alone, do-it-yourself
project. A wonderful way to start is with the short,
easy-to-read book, "Love is Letting Go of Fear" by Gerald
Jampolski.

Here are the three biggies:
Are you addicted to living in the past? Well, you have well
ingrained habits of thinking. Brain 'pathways' can be changed!
Check out http://www.scienceforsuccess.com

To 'neutralize' negative emotions (with a technique that worked
to eliminate Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for Vietnam war
veterans) go to www.emofree.com. They have a free
downloadable e-book for you.

To attract peace and love into your life check out
http://www.abraham-hicks.com

All three of these strategies I use in my own life. They are
an integral part of my coaching. For a free 40-minute,
by telephone, complementary, no obligation "exploration"
coaching session contact me today.

(Stephen and I have spoken on the phone. He has started with
Jampolski's book and is finding it very helpful.)

An extra: If you would like a free copy of the first section
of "Learning to Live in Joy" that I have started writing, I
will send it to you as a Microsoft Word attachment. Request
it by sending an e-mail to me.

3. Are you in a transition in your life? Feeling confused?
In a daze? Angry? Shaken? Or is there simply a part of you
itching to make changes? If so, you may wish to be part of
my free pilot program, "Starting Life Over".

I am developing a coaching program for my new website
"StartingLifeOver.com". Benefits to you include support
during what may be a confusing, painful time plus strategies
to stretch what is possible for you in your new life.

By the way, "The Imp" emerged out of the darkest period of
my life 10 years ago when I was, indeed, starting life over.
I felt called (come hell or high water!) to be part of Jean
Houston's Mystery School in 1993, "Exploring Extraordinary
Human Capacities". The Imp was 'conceived' there.

If you are curious about my program, Starting Life Over,
request an outline of the program and details for applying.
The program will be by e-mail and telephone.
This free "Starting Life Over" pilot program is strictly
limited to 10 people so act now! Contact me today.

In last month's feature article, "What is in Your Toolbox?"
I equated the hammer and other tools to personal empowerment
skills. I received a response from Stephen L.: "With the
coping saw I cut the shape of PEACE in my daily life as my
only goal, letting all the leftover pieces of fear, guilt...
fall away into oblivion." Your coping saw, Stephen, can
provide a simple, yet compelling vision to switch your focus
to when you realize you are caught up in the "struggling".

As a thank you, a set of Imp notecards has gone to Stephen.
A set of free Imp notecards can be yours when you provide a
comment that is used in this newsletter.

How do you feel when you don't reach a goal you've set?
I didn't reach the goal of 100 members by June 30th so I
had to ask myself that question! How do I feel? More
embarrassed (admitting that to you) than disappointed.
Goals are not carved in stone. They are something to strive
for and can be adjusted or changed if unrealistic.
The goal of publishing The Imp Journal took much, much
longer to reach than originally anticipated.

What did happen June 30th that delighted me was being #1
on a google search for "journaling community" (up from #15
the first time I searched). The next time you plan to visit
the Imp website, why not do it by search and keep us #1!

The goal of reaching 100 members is now set for the end
of August. For those of you that are newsletter subscribers
and not yet Imp Community members, why not join now and
enjoy the resources available only to members. It's free.

Tell your friends! Let me know names (not e-mail addresses)
of those you refer. For each friend that joins, your name
will be entered in a draw for an 'Imagine Magnificent
Possibilities' t-shirt. This will be in addition to our
regular monthly winner. This month our t -shirt winner is
new member, Stephen L. of Surrey, B.C.

4. Inspirational Message to Ponder: "To make progress,
you must actually get started!" by Jim Rohn
The Imp asks, "What small step will you take TODAY?"

The Imp encourages you to write this message on a card,
carry it with you and read it often. You may wish to journal
about your thoughts, insights, feelings and, especially,
actions.
