1. Feature Article: Goody, Goody: Goodies!
The Imp is so excited about the goodies we have to share with
you.
Goodies from people I met in Calgary, Alberta September 26 to
28th
at an event "Awakening Your Brilliance" sponsored by
Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB), a new humanitarian
organization.
But before I share a number of resources from people I met in
Calgary, let me say this:
YOU have Incredible, Magnificent, Potential. (i.e. brilliance!).
There is a genius, a greatness inside, given by your Creator
(God,
the Universe, whatever term you are comfortable with.)
Claim it! Funny thing about claiming your magnificence. You
will
IF you feel worthy of it.
Self-worth is based on loving and appreciating yourself. (The
word
"appreciating" also means "increasing in value".)
You have goodies to share with the world, too. Will you?
The Imp is IMPatiently jumping in here. "Say: I appreciate
and
love myself." Oh, he adds, "Say: I am brilliant and I choose to
share my brilliance with others." Rinse?? and repeat ;-).
"Now, " continues The Imp, "Let's share the goodies, Bev."
Yes, let's...
The first person I want to tell you about is Danish
(pronounced
Dan-ish). Danish is albino. Without pigment in his body his eyes
are sensitive to sunlight and he is legally blind. He was one of
the Guest Speakers who told his story growing up experiencing
exclusion by peers and has moved far beyond the emotional pain
to share his gifts. He shared his brief movie which you can
enjoy and share with others. Enjoy it at:
http://www.TheLoveMovie.com
Teresa was a participant who generously shared her skills and
expertise with others. She's written a delightful children's
book "The Presents' Presents"
- a true compelling story (told in
rhyme) about young Rae who shifts from wanting more and more
presents to understanding that happiness from wanting or having
is not lasting. Rae and her friends discover joy as they use
their birthdays to raise money for worthy causes.
Teresa has been called "the new Dr. Seuss". Check out her
website
http://www.smallshifts.com.
If you have children, get them
to click on 'superheroes'.
I got to know Bea while we were out together on the Saturday
morning doing community service picking up litter in an area
near the Calgary Drop-in and Rehab Centre. Bea has written a
book, "A Gift of Grace: A Mother's
Journey with her Son's
Schizophrenia". Bea is proud of herself and her
family having
overcome many obstacles. They realize what they experienced
should be shared so others can learn from their journey.
"Secrets kill. Truth liberates," Bea affirms.
You can book Bea to speak to your group or order her book at
http://www.beaweatherly.com
I spent a pleasant time with Karen over dinner. She also has
had
challenges as a parent raising an autistic child. Since her
website is being revamped and is under construction, I'll have
to
wait to share her information with you at another time.
Kathy is another woman I had a conversation with. She
generously
gave me a copy of the book she was promoting,
"Pregnancy and
Childbirth Secrets" written by her sister Gail J.
Dahl.
Check out
http://web.mac.com/pregnancysecrets
Gail is Executive Director of The Canadian Childbirth
Association.
In Alberta they have programs within a prison, Teen Pregnancy
prevention programs and public childbirth education kits for
educators, libraries and prisons.
A book I've mentioned often is "Wishcraft"
by Barbara Sher. In
the introduction she says, "I stumbled on the real secret behind
the scenes of all successful people's lives. It's not superhero
genes and a jaw of steel, like the myths say.
It's something much simpler. It's know-how and support."
Know-how and support! That's it.
"Humanity Unites Brilliance" is one place where you can find
the
know-how and support to ignite your brilliance, live the life of
your dreams and support humanitarian programs to enable people
in developing countries to move from survival to
self-empowerment
to sustained abundance.

share more goodies!"

2. Q&A: More on "A Survey to Serve, Eh?"
I had just one response to last month's announcement that
since
I am choosing to no longer coach one-to-one, that I would no
longer be featuring a coaching Q&A. Your ideas to replace this
part of the newsletter are still very welcome!
From Rea:
My suggestion for the Q&A section replacement would be something
called "connections" (or similar). I love reading your
newletter,
because I know others are doing the same, while struggling
through
the same issues. The resource ideas are fabulous, but books are
points of individual work. I would love more ideas about how to
connect with other people. Stories about organizations and
groups
working together. Tales of individuals who found each other and
decided that 1 plus 1 equals way more than 2. Ideas about how to
take your spiritual growth out of the safety of your own living
room and into action in the world, affecting change and helping
people; more or less the direction that you have decided to go.
Dear Rea,
Thank you so much for your suggestions! I've always wanted
"The Imp Community" to BE a community. I'll look at how our
members can interact and as always keep looking for resources -
so I'll look for 'community' kinds of resources, too.
The 'community' resource that comes to mind, as I'm writing
now,
is the Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB) "Circles of Brilliance"-
groups of twelve people sharing a common passion.
To learn more about HUB's Circles of Brilliance, check out
http://theimplady.hubhub.org
I do remember as a child having "pen-pals" - back when letter
writing was done by hand and snail mailed to faraway places.
And, oh, the excitement of receiving a letter.
Wow, has emailed changed things.
One idea for how our members can interact: If you would like
an
"imp-pal" - someone with common interests, to support each
other by providing accountability, then send me an email (with
"imp-pal" in the subject line) describing the kind of person(s),
and/or interest areas, you are looking to connect with and I
will
post it in the next newsletter (without your email address) and
then I'll connect you with those who respond.
Yes, books tend to be an individual way of working unless a
group
comes together to discuss or take action on a specific
title/topic.
If there is enough interest, that could happen. too. Email me
your
suggestions with "book discussions" in the subject line.
Do these ideas resonate with you? Again, I'm asking, "What
would
you like to have here to replace the Coaching Q&A?"
I'd like to replace it with something IMPortant to you.
To thank you for taking the time to share suggestions I will
send
a small impish gift. Email me
with
"Survey Serve Eh" in the subject line.

The Imp encourages you to write the quote on a card, read it
regularly, and then journal about your thoughts, insights,
feelings and, especially, actions.
"Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and
reality.
If you can dream it, you can make it so." Belva Davis
