1.Feature Article: Three Wheels on My Wagon...

Last week I wrote an article for this issue and have just
scrapped it.

Something more IMPortant keeps niggling at me. It's like The Imp
is saying, "Bev, ya gotta let people know."

It's about walking my talk.

I feel very strongly about walking my talk - that I'm doing something
myself if I'm encouraging you to.

On the new totebags are the words,

"Live a Life of Inspiration, Magic and Passion!"

The working title for the book I've been writing the last 4 months is
"From Dreaming to Doing: A Woman's Guide to Living a Life of
Inspiration, Magic and Passion."

Am I living a life of inspiration, magic and passion myself? Oops!
Right now, in my business activities, "no". (In my marriage, "yes".)

("Oops" is definitely an Imp word. it's about having the courage
to be IMPerfect.)

Working on the book feels like drudgery. The more I explore the
barriers (such as time, money, illness) that keep us from living
our dream, the more I realize that the barriers are created in our
own mind! We each have Incredible Mind Power! And we don't come
with an instructional manual for how to use it most effectively.

Or do we?

The words from an old song come to mind, "Three wheels on my wagon
and I keep rolling along. The Cherokee are after me..." Well,
there is no one after me, but I can't ignore the fact a wheel is
missing. It's time to search for that missing wheel.

For the past few days, I've been doing a lot of soul-searching.

What precipitated this search was reading Debbie Bermont's book,
"Outrageous Business Growth: the Fast Track to Explosive Sales in
Any Economy"
. I believe I have a unique gift to share with the
world (as do you) and yet I'm not reaching the number of people
I want to. And while reading the principles in her book, I ran
smack dab right into limiting beliefs I didn't even realize I had!

No instructional manual?

Well, that missing wheel is "Spiritual". We do have the answers when
we are willing to seek that deep Inner Magnificent Presence within us.

It's time for me to embark on a deeper spiritual journey. The last
time I made significant spiritual growth, in 1993, I literally took
a break.

I broke my leg!

Earlier that year, my life crashed down around me and I left my job on
a medical leave. My sister, Gwen, was correct at that time when she
said, "Bev, what you are experiencing is a spiritual crisis."

Now, I'm making the time before something that drastic happens again!

One of the resources I'm using is "The Passion Test". From it I
realize that rather than spending so much time indoors in front of
my computer, I'd rather be outdoors in Nature. As well as connecting
with you through cyberspace, I want to connect with you face to face.

My passion is human potential! My passion is coaching people. I get
so excited when I speak with an aspiring writer or blossoming
singer/songwriter (see the Coaching Q&A below).

I learned a lot the last four months through working on the book. I will
get back to writing it when I "grow into it". Before the book can be
written the way I want it to be, I need to focus on my own personal and
spiritual growth.

I promised a copy of the completed book to those of you who graciously
shared your time with me completing the questionnaire and/or being
interviewed. Since it could be quite a while before I have a book for
you, I will contact each of you and offer a complementary coaching
session instead.

Rather than putting time and energy into writing and marketing, I will now
be focusing on spiritual growth, getting outdoors more often, playing,
spending more time with my husband, Wray, and meeting more people face to
face.

This newsletter, my connection with you, will continue. I'm still
accepting coaching clients. That I'm passionate about!

The Universe is calling me (and The Imp) in a new direction. It's
too soon to know what that will be. I'm eager, open and excited!

2. Coaching Q&A: How Do I Get There?

Following last month's article about singing and songwriting, I
received a response from Lana who completed The Imp's Quick Quiz and
applied for a complementary 40-minute coaching session.

She wrote,

"I've always wanted to be a singer/songwriter."

The unspoken question was,

"How do I get there?"

Lana felt blessed that she does get to sing and is part of a trio.
But she'd love to be a solo artist. The idea of performing alone was
scary! She also felt she needed to improve her guitar playing before
playing in public.

We laughed about the idea of there being "Singing Toastmasters".
Those who wish to be Public Speakers get to practice in front of a
supportive group. Why not something similar for Singers?

In her community, Lana belongs to a Singer/Songwriters Circle.
A number of the members are seasoned professionals but some, like Lana,
are inexperienced performers. What Lana decided she could do was to
invite several other 'newbies' to plan a concert together either in her
home or in the home of one of the others. Rather than be open to the
public, they would invite only supportive family members and friends.
Each would sing only songs they had written themselves.

With regard to improving her guitar playing, it made sense to take
more lessons. However, rather than have the music teacher decide what
she'd learn, Lana felt she could ask for help to play her own
compositions more effectively.

What challenges are you facing on your journey to greater self-
empowerment? When your question is answered in this column, you'll
receive a complimentary 40-minute coaching session by phone or
a set of whimsical imp notecards.

Client names are changed to protect identity and maintain
confidentiality. Go ahead! send your questions to:

Your question will be answered promptly.
No waiting until the next newsletter.

Do you really have what it takes to live a life of Inspiration,
Magic and Passion? To find out, take The Imp's Quick Quiz and
apply for a complimentary 40 minute phone consultation.

3.News, Comments, Success Stories, Winners

Saturday, April 1st is the first Planetary Play Day!
Check out http://www.planetaryplay.org
Invite your family, friends or co-workers to catch the spirit.
Laugh, be silly, play games, have fun! The Imp says, with a grin,
"Have a marshmallow fight!"

My favorite party game is "2 facts and a fib". Tell 3 things about
yourself but one is not true. Others guess which is the fib. I like
to group mine in categories. Here are two of mine:

1) I've had a ride on a motorcycle in Edinburgh, Scotland, a ride in
a taxi in New York City and a ride in an ambulance in Vancouver, Canada.

2) I've panned for gold, held an Olympic silver medal in my hands and
earned a bronze pin in rifle shooting.

The first person to correctly guess both my fibs, by April 1st, will
win an Imp totebag. Send your guesses to

This month's totebag winner is new subscriber, Shelley Erickson
of Sundre, Alberta, Canada. She writes:

"Hi Bev, Thank you so much!
I am the broker/owner of the Coldwell Banker Trails West Realty office
in Sundre. My husband and I have two daughters currently attending the
Red Deer college . We live on an acreage just outside of Sundre, with
our horses and dog and love to spend our free time in the Comox Valley.
Thanks again."

There are 3 ways to win a "Live a Life of Inspiration, Magic
and Passion" tote bag:

1. Request game cards and mark your location on The Imp's guest
map. It's fun! There's only one rule to this game - don't get
caught doing it!

2. During your first month as a new subscriber.

3. When you become a member of "The Imp Community" online,
which happens automatically when you purchase The Imp Journal:

4.Inspirational Message to Ponder

The Imp encourages you to write the quote on a card, read it
regularly, and then journal about your thoughts, insights,
feelings and, especially, actions.

"The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find
their greatest happiness using it." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
