1. Feature Article: Do You Have Ants Crawling
in Your Brain?
"Ugh!" Was that your first response to 'ants'? 'Ants' stands for
Automatic Negative Thoughts. I don't know who to attribute
those words to. They're not mine.
Anyway, let's do some 'imping' instead: using 'I', 'M' and 'P'
for phrases of incredible, meaningful possibilities! I coined
'imping' after learning about 'seussing' - which is copying Dr.
Seuss and making up your own words (or animals!).
As humans, we have incredible power to influence our subconscious
mind. Some words for it are 'autosuggestion' and 'self-hypnosis'.
Use your incredible mind power! If it operates by default (out-
side your conscious awareness) there may very well be 'ants'
running rampant in your brain. Are you ready to replace 'ants'
with 'imps'? They're much more fun!
Here's how:
"I" Intending
Find a quiet spot (maybe in bed at night). Keep pen and paper
beside you. Close your eyes and ask yourself:
"What do I really want in life?" (If you answered 'money', go
deeper - what would money provide?) Unlimited thinking is called
for. No applying the brakes. (Ants will creep in, shoo them away!).
Thoughts are real! Create pictures in your mind.
When you have some ideas, write them down. The clearer you are,
the more your subconscious mind can help you.
"M" Mind-set
Making yourself believe that what you want (and intend to have)
IS possible! Affirm: "I keep my mind open to possibilities."
Write down a statement of your intent. Read it when you get up in
the morning and when you go to bed at night. Memorize it. Also
visualize what it is you want (eyes closed) and as IMPortantly,
visualize what you will do/give in return - e.g. the service you
provide, the effort you put in on the job.
When doubts creep in, and they will, just picture the Imp shooing
those ants away!
"P" Passion
The more excited you get about your project, the more effective
it is. Get excited! Believe with all your heart.
"P" is also for Planning. Action steps are needed. Your sub-
conscious mind will go to work creating circumstances - a chance
meeting or the right book, for example. Seize the opportunities
and trust your intuition. Plan to take action but realize that
your rational mind does not need to plan HOW it will happen.
Leave that up to your subconscious mind's ability to 'tap into
the universe'.
Two themes from "The Imp Journal" can help you. They are:
"IMages of Potency - Visualizing" and "I Commit to My Path with
Affirmations".
The Imp encourages you to PRINT OUT this article. Highlight parts
that are most IMPortant to you. Make up a 1-month checklist to
keep track of each morning and evening that you follow this
process.
The Imp would love to hear from you!
P.S. 'Seussing' is impish. Have fun. Again, the Imp would love to
hear what you've created.

2. Coaching Q&A: Me or my kids?
Anne writes, "My struggle is in feeling true to me and my
journey, which has been away from the corporate/bureaucratic and
material world (I was burnt out), and providing for my teenage
kids who want to go to university and live the life to which they
had become accustomed. I'm now satisfied and happy driving a
school bus."
Dear Anne,
The fact that it is a struggle shows that feeling true to your
self is something you are not going to give up! I can identify
with you. In 1993 I burned out.
Providing a university education for your kids is a "should".
The finest gift you can give your children is the example of you
yourself really living! Demonstrate what it is to be true to your
self and your journey.
Do you really want your teens to think that children are a burden
to be sacrificed for? Rather than sacrificing for them, allow
your teenagers to learn and grow through life experiences. They
will become more resiliant. Encourage them to be true to them-
selves and their life journey. Listen to their dreams.
I grew up in a family of six kids. My dad worked in a mill. I put
myself through university. So I'm certainly not one who thinks
parents (especially a single parent) should feel that they need
to provide a university education for their children. Let your
kids find their own solutions to challenges. Encourage them to
explore options and let them know that you have confidence that
they can meet life's challenges.
Provide your teens with their own copy of "The Imp Journal:
Guided Journal Writing for Personal Empowerment". It is now
easier to order at
www.theimpjournal.com/order-journal.htm
Two books that you and your kids may find inspirational are:
"Unstoppable" by Cynthia Kersey and "Wishcraft" by Barbara Sher.
When your question is answered in this column, you'll receive
a complimentary 40-minute coaching session. Only expense is your
long distance phone charge.
What challenges are you facing on your journey to greater self-
empowerment? Go ahead! Send your question to here:

4.Inspirational Message to Ponder
The Imp encourages you to write the quote on a card, read it
regularly, and then journal about your thoughts, insights,
feelings and, especially, actions.
"In order to IMProve your life, first believe that something
better exists."
from "Creating Money: Keys to Abundance" by Sanaya Roman and
Duane Packer.
On the same page (169) is this affirmation:
"I invite and allow good to come into my life."
