1. Feature Article: Was I crazy to set a wedding date
in the
middle of the month when this newsletter is due out?
Well, maybe, maybe not. There was a point when I wondered if I'd
manage to get this newsletter done. People ask me if I'm excited.
Not really. I am happy and serene. Busy with wedding preparations
and setting aside as much else as I can.
I did choose Thursday morning to attend the second meeting of the
Vancouver Island Healing Arts Network (VIHAN). It is a wonderful,
vibrant group of people who focus on wellbeing.
Two members gave 15 minute presentations: Wes Geitz, an "Emotional
Freedom Technique" (EFT) practitioner and Christina Nienaber-
Roberts who talked about "sacred movement".
I have often mentioned EFT in this newsletter - it is so
effective and can be learned by anyone!
Christina's work evolved from listening to her body and follow-
ing her intuition.
I commented to someone at the meeting that there are so many ways
to good health and yet we live in a world where so many people
suffer with poor health - physically, emotionally and
spiritually. "When the student is ready, the teacher appears."
How can I remain happy and serene rather than 'stressed-out' when
there is so much to be done? I have learned to tap into that
inner, spiritual realm where there is only peace. I live by
listening to my body, paying attention to my intuition, practicing
healthy habits with respect to the food I choose to put in my
body, exercise, rest, freedom from fearful thinking, setting
priorities, staying focussed and expressing gratitude daily.
(I certainly didn't learn to do all those things overnight!)
So dear Reader, I wish you serenity, vibrant health and a happy
life. It is available to you, when you are ready.

2. Coaching Q&A: How Do I Get That Trust Back?
Ann writes: "I have got to the point where I can see that the
anger and hurt I feel when I get zinged, and any resentments I
feel, stem from my own betrayal of myself (which I have been
doing ever since I can remember) I recognize it's OK to make
mistakes and that what I did was perfect for the moment for me to
grow and to get my needs met. And I feel stuck right now in the
belief that I can't heal all these wounds by myself, and not
trusting that the universe provides me with exactly what I need
when I need it. Help! How do I get that trust back?
Dear Ann,
There are three parts to your query that I would like to
address. First, the sense of self betrayal. Have you ever been
able to reach the horizon? Of course not. You don't expect to.
Well, you also have an 'internal horizon' that can never be
reached. It is your ideals. There is a problem when you expect
to reach this internal horizon. When you measure your progress
against your ideals you set yourself up for disappointment.
Instead, you need to measure your growth from a starting point.
Measure from where you were, not from your ideal. Your ideals
provide motivation for setting goals. This concept comes from Dan
Sullivan's, "Living in the Positive Zone". I encourage you to read
the full article (How to Enjoy and Multiply Your Achievements) at
http://www.strategiccoach.com/ideas/artcl_posZone.shtml and see
how it relates to your dilemma.
The second part is the belief that you should somehow heal all
your wounds by yourself. Get support! Options to consider:
1. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
www.emofree.com
2. 'Holosync' tapes from
http://www.centerpointe.com
3. Meditation. There are many kinds of meditation. Seek training
such as 'Transcendental Meditation'
http://www.tm.org
4. Learn self-hypnosis. At Thursday's VIHAN meeting I bought a
relaxation hypnosis CD from Regina Schuhmann, a certified
Hypnotherapist. Regina can be reached at
insightout@shaw.ca or
250-792-0027. Her CD is available for $12 including shipping and
handling. (Say Bev Howden referred you.)
5. Personal Life Coaching. No one consciously hurts or betrays
him/herself. Once unconscious beliefs are brought into conscious
awareness, you then have choices and find solutions. One aspect of
coaching is to look at old situations in new ways. Other benefits
include training in life enhancing skills, feedback, strategies,
resources and designing supportive environments.
The third aspect is 'the universe'. There are laws or principles
of how the universe 'operates'. (The Law of Gravity for example.)
I urge you to print out the free mutual support hand-book at
http://www.arnoldpatent.com and to read the principles daily.
These are principles to apply to daily living, to experience
peace, love and joy in your life. Start a support group. I am part
of such a group myself.
Another resource for understanding how 'the universe' works is
Lynn Grabhorn's book, Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting. As it is
right now, the universe is not providing "exactly what I need
when I need it", it is providing what you attract.
To Ann, and all my readers, I trust that somewhere in this
information there is a 'nugget' for you. I always appreciate
hearing from you! Let me know what your nugget was.

When your question is used, you will receive a set of whimsical

3.News, Comments, Success Stories, Winners
This is your newsletter and I wish to have it reflect your
interests, needs and desires as related to your personal growth
and empowerment. Your suggestions and comments are welcomed!
I wish to thank all the people who wrote to congratulate Wray and
I on our forthcoming marriage (May 16th).
Kathy K writes: "I just wanted to convey my heartfelt happiness to
you and for you with the news that you have found your significant
other and will soon be married. Congratulations! It's funny but I
really feel a huge outpouring of love when I hear that someone's
life has taken a beautiful, loving leap. I wish you and Wray all
the best."
Kathy, I wish for everyone the experience, as you word it, of
life taking a beautiful, loving leap. That is what the Imp
is about!
And Barb R. writes, "Congratulations, Bev! You really did it! You
went out there and lived the law of attraction and attracted a
good man into your life! I had to read it twice to realize this
really was happening to you, not just an illustration of something
else. You deserve to live the life of your dreams with someone
special, I know what a blessing that can be. Hugs and best wishes
to you and your new sweetie."
Yes, Barb, the Law of Attraction works! Dear Reader, the same good
things are available to you.

4.Inspirational Message to Ponder
The Imp encourages you to write the quote on a card, read it
regularly, and then journal about your thoughts, insights,
feelings and, especially, actions.
"The greatest gift you give others is the example of your own
life working." from the book Creating Money: Keys to Abundance
by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer. It's one of my favorite books.
It is a spiritual book about prosperity thinking.
